Dermanet Wound Contact Layer from HealthyKin.com is a non-adherent contact layer to protect burns, graft sites, donor sites and other wounds. It can be coated with a topical ointment, cut to size, and then wrapped around a burn before affixing the chosen dressing. Since Dermanet does not absorb the topical ointment, the ointment stays on the burn site longer for more effective treatment. If the open method of burn treatment is practiced, Dermanet can still be used as a carrier to deliver the topical medications to the burn. This would protect the granulating tissue while still maintaining a free flow of air to the site.

    Dermanet Wound Contact Layer Features:

    • An inert, non-adherent wound contact layer dressing
    • Place directly on wound to protect wound surface during healing
    • Shields fragile granulation tissue from disturbance caused by secondary dressings
    • May be used dry or coated with topical ointment
    • Ideal for lining deep wounds before the application of packing materials or under gauze
    • Helps reduce trauma during wound dressing removal
    • Use as primary dressing
    • 6" x 2 yards roll; sold individually

    Part numbers: 46-144

I used this on a large burn wound AFTER the wound was dry enough that I didn't think this material would stick. It worked great, but I do think I did the right thing by not putting it on the wound right away. I will definitely keep this on hand as I continue to cover the wound for awhile longer.
